The 101 Top Online Resources for Finding Your Dream Job

Dream Career

“With the right tools, anything’s possible…”

As it turns out Live Your Legend is not the only website out there looking to help people do work they love (who would have thought?!).

In fact, this site would not exist if it wasn’t for many of the other sites out there that have inspired, taught and helped me along on my journey and my thinking. Live Your Legend is the sum of the sites, books, tools, experiments, case studies and people I’ve talked to over the years. That’s how I found my passion.

I’ve spent a ton of time digging through what I’ve found to be the very best resources in all of the internet for finding your dream career. This is meant to be your master resource. Bookmark it and come back as you see fit. In fact a number of the folks who run these sites are among the Expert Interviews and Case Studies as part of the How To Live Off Your Passion guide.

The sites below are in no particular order aside from the fact that the first group of sites are run by people I know and who have personally inspired me. Then I’ve listed other highly ranked resources further down.

Indeed! I’d say start with the first few and the ones I listed at first (1-55), are all you really need. The others are a bonus but the material in those first 55, that I have personally gotten benefit from, is enough to make very big things happen.

  2. Executive X

    9. Career Renegade. But so many new ones for me to review. Thanks for sharing such a great list, Scott!

Oh, and my top site for helping me realize that blogging can really change people’s lives is NerdFitness.com . This blog showed me that it was possible, and was the main inspiration for starting my own.

        October 27, 2011 | 12:22 pm

What Steve has done at Nerd Fitness is something all of us could learn from! The sites I listed above are more directed toward purpose work but once you find what you’re passionate about then going out and finding awesome models (like Steve in your case) is the next most crucial step!

Thanks Amy. You site looks really really good by the way!

This is an awesome, and admittedly intimidating list!

I totally agree with you on StrengthsFinder. The insights I’ve gained have helped me navigate my way to what makes my heart sing.

I’ve recently started blogging about my journey – http://renewableenthusiasm.com

Renewable Enthusiasm is about experiential exploration along the journey of finding, following, living and sustaining a passion. Sometimes it’s what you do intentionally that counts. Other times, our “re-creation” comes from the unexpected life lessons that sneak in the back door when we engage in our hobbies.

Like Steve Jobs learning calligraphy, you never know where the meaningful life lessons will come from.
