We have a new home!

Well everyone, it’s official. After months of planning (and years of dreaming), I am beyond excited to announce that the Live Your Legend website has been completely redesigned and updated!

I’ve been waking up between 4 and 5am (with no alarm) for the past few weeks just from the sheer excitement and anticipation of this coming to life. And I could not be more proud and excited about how it turned out.

My good friends, mentors and incredibly talented designers, artists and entrepreneurs, Chase Reeves and Corbett Barr over at Fizzle, are responsible for this coming to life. And my main man Glen Stansberry has been going non-stop for dozens of hours over the past few weeks to bring their handiwork to life on the web.

I think they absolutely crushed it, but who cares what I think?

This is about YOU – I want you to be the judge.

Right now, I ask that you spend at least a few minutes checking out the new site and then leaving a comment on this post to let us know what you think. We’re still constantly testing and improving things on the fly, so we’ll be taking your feedback very seriously.

But let’s talk about Why I did this…

Live Your Legend has been going incredibly well. Email signups were at all-time highs. Community engagement was through the roof, both on our sites and in the real world with LYL Local. Revenue is up a lot over last year. Our tools and courses have been connecting with readers like never before.

So why spend many thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours and months of my life going through a full redesign??

Because I wanted to invest our success back in YOU.

There have been so many things I’ve wanted to do to make our home on the web more useful for you, and the time had finally come.

So this redesign is all about you. And, as with everything we do at LYL, it came as the result of hundreds of survey responses and nearly twenty 30-60 minute 1:1 Skype interviews I did with our core members.

You advice was pure gold, and that’s what made up our road map.

Since I know a lot of you are building things online (something else I learned during all that research), we are going to cover the redesign, branding and technical online biz topics in detail in the coming weeks. In fact, Chase and Corbett have even offered to do some special group coaching just for us with their team at Fizzle, for those of you who are interested. But much more on that in a week or two.

For now, here’s the stuff that’s big and new about Live Your Legend 2.0…

You gotta spend a few minutes today checking this baby out!

1. Refined positioning.

This is not a rebrand by any means. It’s just a refocusing. We’ve learned so much more about how we can specifically help people, and we wanted the site to properly reflect that. So now community, environment and surroundings are a much bigger part of our messaging. Because our promise to you at LYL is to help you find and do work you love and surround yourself with the people who make it possible. So far, so good! You can see this in the Homepage, About, About Scott and Live Your Legend Local, to name a few.

2. Clean, simple and focused reading experience.

We cleared out a ton of the clutter. Almost nothing in the sidebar and a much bigger and less distracting main article area. You don’t need to see banners for our tools and products all the time. Instead, you’ll see them when we feel it’s necessary.

3. Much, much, much faster!

Like 4-5x faster!

4. Fully responsive and optimized for mobile.

This is SO cool – especially for a guy like me who doesn’t understand anything about code. Go to the site and try making the browser on your computer smaller and watch what happens as the text and graphics change in real time. Then pull it up on your smart phone. It’s like a totally different site. About 30% of you visit on mobile, so this was huge.

5. A deeper focus on community success stories – from all of YOU.

You saw a taste of this with Ben Fanning’s post and incredible transition story last week on How to Live Your Legend WITHOUT Quitting Your Day Job and you will be seeing a lot more in-depth case studies and interviews with our members who have made massive changes over the years to discover how they did it – so you can do the same. You asked for more relatable stories, and this is our answer – straight from our community. If you have an amazing transition and success story, please send us an email (or reply to this in email) and tell us about it!

6. A new Live Your Legend Local Meetups page!

This goes back to our focus on members. Over the years, our online community has turned into a full blown in-person global revolution with monthly meetup groups hosted by volunteer LYL Local hosts in over 150 cities and 48 countries. And this is growing big time – in the past two weeks, we accepted 44 new host applications! Check out the video below to get a feel for why we call our movement here a Revolution… #mostproudcareermomentever

7. A products & courses page – finally!

It’s crazy that up until now, there was no way to know all the different courses, tools, products and services we offered to help you live your legend. No more! We now have a cool products page that will continue to build out over time. The next stage is adding the tools and products we use and love for running our business and getting results, as well as the books, workshops and tools made by people we respect, which will go in our “Backed by LYL” section.

8. A brand new Popular Articles Page based on your core challenges.

This is for sure the thing I’m most excited for in terms of how it can help all of you. I am in LOVE with what Glen has done with this. I’ve listed the 14 top challenges I hear from all of you and then picked our best and most popular articles to help solve each challenge. The layout and usability of the page is gorgeous. I think it will become a huge tool and focus for our community going forward.

9. A search bar – that actually works!

Another “finally!” See it at the bottom of the Popular Posts page and also on the search page.

10. Designed for better community engagement among all of you (and me).

Blogs are traditionally way too one-way for me. With the recent addition of our new comments software, this has helped tremendously as I’ve seen many of you comment, help and share with each other. You are all experts at something and I want to give you the platform to share that love with the rest of us! Check it out when you leave your comments about the new site here. And to take that to a totally new level, in the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing a new platform for our Live Your Legend LOCAL communities so hosts and attendees can all easily interact both online and in-person. This incredible tool has also been the source of my recent insomnia. 😉 More on that soon.

11. Totally redesigned and improved Passionate Work Toolkit.

You gotta see this. As a thank-you for being an email subscriber and official member of our Revolution, all subscribers get access to a super deep set of tools for finding work you love and surrounding yourself with the people who make it possible. We’ve totally redesigned the toolkit and the individual workbooks to make them much more usable and fun – including some new video stuff, too. You can always access the Passionate Work Toolkit by entering your email into any subscribe box on the site. You won’t be double subscribed. You’ll just be taken straight to our Secret Subscriber Only Hub.

12. Much more video!

This has been on my mind forever. I know video connects on a much deeper level, so you’ll be seeing a lot more of it from me (especially on next year’s trip!). For now, we have new videos on the About, Secret Subscriber Only Hub (once subscribed) and Live Your Legend Local, among others. That also means more pictures of me doing handstands – like on the one right after people subscribe. 🙂

13. A lot more personality and passion.

You’ll see this in the pictures on various pages, like the one at the top of this post (my fave is the About Scott page), the personal stories from me and the amazing quotes and stories from our community, spread throughout the site.

So… those are the big Whats of the new site. I cannot wait to hear what you think.

But the Why is What Matters…

Live Your Legend exists because we believe doing work you love is a right – as long as you have the right guidance, tools and people to make it possible.

I like to think of this new LYL 2.0 taking our mission and charter to the next level.

Simon, one of our recent Connect With Anyone grads, said it better than I ever could…

“It was 18 months ago when I came across Live Your Legend and it just completely blew my mind. I was living this life thinking, ‘I have to kind of just do this.’ Then it was like a kid on Christmas Day with my wife thinking, ‘We don’t have to do this anymore.’ It was literally a life change. It opened so many doors. Thanks for everything you’re doing.”

– Simon P., Singapore

“There must be another way.”

I hear this a lot. And yes, indeed there is. Our community is here to show it to the world.

Simon’s quote now lives at the bottom of every LYL page, so we can all remember why this community here exists.

Because the reality is LYL exists because of YOU.

Over 100,000 of you from every country in the world.

That’s the only way any of this works.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude.

Welcome home,

– Scott

Now go tell us what you think of your new home in the comments!

P.S. If you’re reading this on your phone, you gotta click here to see what this baby looks like on mobile!

And keep an eye for lots more fun to come – including case studies, a new LYL Local online platform and shirts! We have cool shirts coming soon thanks to our winning inspiring phrase from Adam Muller!

The party is just beginning…
