Fun update: Our free Goal Setting & Action Workbook is now live! Download it below.
And perfect timing, because…
We. Did. It.
Wow.
Last night my breath was taken away. Multiple times.
I stood on a small red stage at Samovar Tea Lounge and looked into a sea of just over 100 Living Legends. The room was at capacity and 39 more were on the wait list.
But that was just the beginning.
Within 20 hours of that moment, the same thing was happening in 48 countries around the globe in just under 150 cities with thousands of attendees – In the real world.
All coming together for one reason: To hold each other accountable to making a difference in 2014, and doing work that makes us come alive.
Last night I sat on my couch at about midnight with a glass of champagne and some dark chocolate just watching the feeds come through on Facebook and Twitter. Pictures, videos and updates from Chiang Mai, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Aukland, Tasmania, Portland, New York, Atlanta, Finland, Latvia, Nigeria and Kenya kept rolling in (to name a few).
Yesterday there were no borders. No cultural differences.
Just people coming together to connect on a common belief. That we’re all meant to do work that matters – to us and to the world.
And it was absolutely breathtaking.
It’s impossible to pick a favorite picture, but this one from Ben in Kenya just got posted and brought me a huge smile…
Everyone left the event with one action item: To do one thing to get them closer to doing work they love and making their impact on the world in 2014.
So today seems like the perfect day to release our newly updated Goal Setting & Action Workbook!
We release a new version at the beginning of every year and this continues to be the #1 downloaded item at LYL year over year. Tens of thousands of people have used it in the past 12 months to bridge the gap between dreams and reality.
We make it totally free to all of you because we believe it’s the right thing to do (And because I love you guys so damn much).
There’s no opt-in or email required. Just a link you get to click to download.
All I ask in return is that you share this with your friends on Facebook and Twitter and pick at least one close friend to help by emailing it to them directly. No need to show me proof that you shared it. I trust you guys :).
This is the exact goal-setting process I use every year.
I’ll be spending the next two days in front of a whiteboard going through every step.
Then in the next few weeks I’ll share my plans publicly on Live Your Legend and I hope you’ll do the same.
Click here to download the free 2014 Goal Setting & Action Workbook.
Thank you all for being a part of this Revolution.
After yesterday I truly believe we’ve earned that title.
What’s been set into motion cannot be stopped. Not by me nor anyone else. That’s an unbelievable thing.
And the best part is that yesterday was only day one. These will be happening all over the world on the first Tuesday of every month for as long as the eye can see.
Here’s to being the change and to all of us getting to proudly say “We Were Here.” Or more appropriately, “We ARE Here.”
So grateful,
-Scott
P.S. If you attended or hosted an event, please post a picture and comment on our main LYL Facebook Group as well as your city’s Facebook Group. And also I’d love for you to send out a Tweet with hashtag #LYLLocal and linking to liveyourlegendlocal.com. Here’s a sample. Let’s share this party with the world! Thank you lots.
P.P.S. And if you couldn’t attend yesterday, have no fear! Our next global meetup is less than four weeks away :).
We’ll also do a full event recap post once we’ve gotten all the videos, pictures and stories together. That could take a little while though…
For now, get to work on the Goal Setting & Action Workbook so you can share your plans with us in next week’s post!

Posted at 12:19h, 08 JanuaryI-AM-SO-PROUD to have been part of it yesterday, one of the 150 cities, one of the almost 3000 who attended the momentum, all synchronized following the sunset timezone after timezone… woowww
And as you say, this was only the beginning…
Let’s build the future
Scott
Posted at 12:54h, 08 JanuaryWhat’s even better – we already are! This is the future in such a big way. Yesterday reconfirmed how badly people are craving real world connection. I see it as our duty to provide that safe space. Thank you for helping me make that happen Patricia!

Posted at 12:24h, 08 JanuaryNice work, Scott! You are killing it! This never happens without the deep passion you have for helping others live their legend. A revolution is, indeed, happening!
Scott
Posted at 12:55h, 08 JanuaryThank you Will. But small correction. It comes from OUR deep passion! 🙂

Posted at 13:44h, 08 JanuaryThanks Scott. My partner and I went to the Sydney event and we came away feeling amazing. The energy in the room was so much more than we ever get at work (years worth combined). Will get cracking on the toolkit too. (Note that seems the ‘download page link’ on pg 26 doesn’t work.)

Posted at 15:03h, 08 JanuaryI attend the meetup in Bremen, Germany, and I really need to thank you Scott (and host Lik Fenix) for hosting this great event!
We were a small group of 9 (if I remember correct) and we had a blast! Passionate people from different countries and different fields connected and shared their dreams, motivations, emotions and goals for 2014.
I can’t wait to see the meetup develop over time!
You’re killing it Scott, keep it up 🙂

Posted at 14:26h, 09 JanuaryThe LYLLocal event in Minneapolis on Jan 7th was amazing. I mean, super amazing. And now I get to plow back into the Goal Setting and Action Workbook for the 4th year in a row.
The only thing that could be better is if you gave us access to a Word doc version of the PDF (#BringBackWord’sFlexibility). 🙂

Posted at 17:40h, 09 JanuaryAwesome Joel! Thanks so much for being the change out there. We’ll try to get a word doc sorted out too :).

Posted at 02:02h, 10 JanuaryWell done Scott & The Team,
What an amazing, intriguing, fun and empowering meeting we had here in Dublin. Truly encouraging to be surrounded by people, who not only believe, don’t think you are silly, but will give you a push, advice, understanding.
Thank you! Hope you know if any of us succeeds, part of it will be yours, for keeping the little fire safe and burning.
Scott
Posted at 08:20h, 10 JanuaryThank you for that Anna. And so fun to hear. I LOVE Dublin! Can’t wait to join one of your future monthly meetings on one of my upcoming trips! Thank you for showing up and showing others what’s possible. We are only just getting started!

Posted at 09:25h, 10 Januaryhey Scott! i wanted to tell you on the conference but was too shy to speak: THANK YOU for giving us this opportunity to make a difference. i was scared to death to host the LYL Local, but i jumped in and committed before i could talk myself out of it b/c i wanted to get out of my comfort zone. it was like CWA all over again – meeting people like me—but live! only a few people, but it was so wonderful to know you’re not alone in the values and dreams and type of connections you care about. i have been living in such a deficit of this need for so long, and it’s part of a story i will share eventually in my blog. (haven’t found the nerve.) anyways, THANK YOU for being so genuine, humane, caring, and having a vision that can make such a huge impact on the world in a positive way. you’re very appreciated.

It’s Fantastic that LYL has now spread globally. I’ve kinda quit using Facebook for the past 2 years now. Will you be creating a Linkedin LYL Local groups in due course?
Thanks,
Joel 🙂

Posted at 11:35h, 17 JanuaryScott,
I am from India. Indians are in general a bit reserved and the point that you make about coming as a vulnerable person, is something that I was afraid wasn’t going to happen with people here. I had tried my hand earlier at creating an Indian group that talks to each other in Skype weekly, but that didn’t succeed. So, I really was thinking that the LYL Local Pune meet was going to be cancelled. But I was thrilled to go there and meet 11 passionate people there! Seems to be a great start!
