28 Sep How to Make a Living from Your Passion (announcing the definitive guide to doing work you love)
“Living a life of passion and getting paid for it is just that, a way of life. Those who wake up excited aren’t just the lucky ones, they condition themselves to experience and deserve it.”

I have something really exciting to share with you all today.
As most of you know, this site has one purpose: to get you to start doing work you love.
I believe this is a fundamental human right and we’re all capable of experiencing it. It also happens to be something the world desperately needs.
In last month’s Ask The Reader post I asked you all one question: “What’s the biggest challenge or fear keeping you from doing work you love?” The responses were overwhelming.
The majority of your problems came down to two things:
1. I don’t know my passion
2. I don’t know how to make money from my passion
Between these responses, the surveys I’ve run, the comments, the emails and the coaching clients, the sticking point always seems to come down to passion.
As it turns out, for the past 8 years I’ve run experiments on myself and others to better understand what lights us on fire. I eventually came across a process for making these discoveries.
I have good news.
Over the past three months I’ve taken all I’ve learned and developed a guide to help you all with just that – to find passion and make a living from it.

Posted at 06:10h, 28 SeptemberLooking forward to it! Your posts have been very important on my journey to discovering my passion and how I can replace it with my job. Thanks for all the advice and motivation.

Posted at 10:59h, 05 OctoberAwesome Adam. That’s what I’m here for! In fact, that’s what our whole community here is for!

Posted at 15:11h, 28 SeptemberI’m wondering if you’ve ever coached or seen someone through this journey who is following a creative passion? I know creative jobs aren’t always the ones that can pay the bills. My dream is to eventually transition out of my desk job and into interior design, so I was wondering if you had any creative-specific inspiration for me?
Otherwise, I follow you regularly, and you’re always inspiring.

Posted at 19:15h, 03 OctoberLex, in addition to Scott’s recommendations you may want to check out Dan Pink’s book “A Whole New Mind” about creative right-brain pursuits and how those options are and will increase in the coming years. It’s a good book on the topic.

Posted at 11:05h, 05 OctoberAbsolutely Lex! In fact there seem to be more and more artists heading this direction. The new guide will cover a lot of that. Also, check out Chris Guillebeau and what he’s created with The Art of Non Conformity. A number of his courses are dedicated to making money from art. Here’s a link to his Art + Money course.
Enjoy!

Posted at 19:14h, 30 SeptemberI have seen many creative types who are doing left brained work that they can’t stand just to pay the bills.
The world would be more productive and a happier place if people did the work that they love.

Posted at 11:06h, 05 OctoberAgreed! Check out the resource in the comment above or hang tight for next month’s launch. I’m here to help!

Posted at 15:11h, 01 OctoberLooks great. I’m excited to get a hold of it.

Posted at 16:17h, 03 OctoberI will probably get some flack (or maybe a lot) for this comment but I have been making a living from being a transformational therapist in ways I never dreamed possible. Healing work was not my passion – I actually ran away from it. Only when I realized that it is my life purpose did I change my attitude and then my whole life changed. Each one of us has a life purpose, and life will reward us if we pursue it. Then, LIFE becomes our passion.

Posted at 11:08h, 05 OctoberThat comment deserves absolutely ZERO flack and all praise Rosanna. Hat’s off to having found IT! May we all experience the same…

Posted at 14:01h, 08 OctoberSounds interesting… This may be what I need in the future.
I gave up on living my “passions” about 5-years ago because even though I was doing what I’ve always wanted to do, and was unbelievably happy, it just couldn’t pay the bills. (I had way to much “baggage” in the form of tons of debt I had accumulated from caring for a sick/dying parent for almost 10-years.) It eventually got to the point where all I could afford to eat was about 2-cups of oatmeal a day, and I had to live with friends/family.
Maybe in 10-15 years when I can afford to take a second run at doing what I love this will come in handy.

Posted at 11:39h, 30 OctoberTo be honest Daniel, you are exactly the person I created this course for. I really mean that!
I think it could help your thinking (and resulting actions) in a huge way. I hope you’ll check it out when we launch in a week or so. If you haven’t, I’d suggest you sign up for the pre-launch list to get it early and at a nice discount. I would love to hear what you think of it.
Here’s to reconditioning what’s possible!
