12 Dec Announcing LYL LOCAL Meetups: 142 Cities in 44 Countries all on Jan 7th – Sign Up Today!
“The days of feeling like you and your “crazy” ideas are all alone in this world are over! We’re now officially in your corner. All that’s left to do is show up.”
– Live Your Legend LOCAL Team
**Your task today is fun and simple: Look for your city (or a city near you) below, click the link and register for your local LYL Meetup. It’s all happening on January 7th. It’s time to take this revolution to the real world!
We Are Having a Party all Over the World – And We Want YOU There!
Lately I’ve been so excited I can hardly sleep.
I see the core focus of Live Your Legend as being quite simple: Bring inspiring people together to help each other do work they love and change the world.
If we can do this online and in the real world, we can start to create more change and possibility than any single activity.
And I see the in-person part of this as a HUGE part of the future of Live Your Legend. And something that’s terribly underserved in a world obsessed with online connection and social networks.
That’s why we’ve recently launched our Live Your Legend LOCAL initiative – a way for Living Legends (all of you) to host and attend your own local events in your hometowns around the world.
When we first announced this a few weeks ago, you all went crazy with it.
And as a result we now have over 200 Hosts in 142 cities in 44 countries who will be hosting their own local meetups all over the world, on the same day, on January 7, 2014.
How crazy is that?!
On January 7th, we are hosting our first same-day global meetup, and it’s going to be an absolute party.
We’re actually even building a custom in-person connection app and website which we’ll be announcing next week (hopefully – it’s taken waaaay more effort to build than we thought. No surprise ;).
Take a second to think about this…
What if there were a place where anyone could go to find passionate and inspiring people in their local community, anywhere in the world, who believed in the same values and possibilities, and could help each other succeed in doing work that matters – both to you and to the world?
And imagine if that group met at least every month to discuss and build upon their big ideas.
What would that look like?
We’re building Live Your Legend LOCAL to find out.
It’s all based on a simple principle:
The fastest way to do the things you don’t think can be done is to hang around people already doing them.
Our goal is to help you find and do work that makes you come alive – by surrounding yourself with the people who make it possible. And there is no better way to genuinely and naturally connect with passionate, inspiring people than meeting them in the real world.
We believe that the world is at the heart of a global connection crisis.
In a world of never-ending online “connections” and friend requests, true friends are becoming fewer and farther between. We have lost sight of what it means to genuinely connect with another human in real time. To sit down with them and share our ideas and struggles. To discuss and discover what’s really possible.
The Internet has allowed us to connect with amazing individuals from all over the world, but we sometimes forget or undervalue the power of sitting in the same room with a living, breathing person. Those connections are essential, especially when you’re on the road less traveled – as all of us are!
So this is our next big step in solving that problem.
The days of feeling like you and your “crazy” ideas are all alone in this world are over!
We’re now officially in your corner. And right down the street. 🙂
All that’s left to do is show up.
Your task today is simple: Please find your city or a city near you below, click the link and register for your local LYL Meetup.
I cannot wait to see what happens on January 7th!
I think it’s the start of something bigger than we can all imagine.
And I’m so glad and grateful to have you all a part of it.
It’s time to show up and join the party!
-Scott

Posted at 15:09h, 12 DecemberWow! – That’s exactly the same date that Danielle LaPorte is doing her world wide Desire Map book groups – people meeting up all over the world to discuss their lives and how to make them more amazing. And now you’re announcing a really similar activity. Is this really a coincidence? Is the number 7 that powerful? The internet makes the world so small and so big at the same time.
Scott
Posted at 15:25h, 12 DecemberWhoa that’s crazy! I had no idea. And her and I have actually traded some ideas. But not about that. That’s wild. Maybe we could combine forces. Crazy coincidence!

Posted at 16:29h, 12 DecemberHey, Deborah, I have also noticed that 🙂
Actually, I have decided to represent both communities. I won’t be mixing the events – the book club will be devoted to the book, so there’ll be slightly different focus. But I’ll encourage the people to participate where they can!
Scott
Posted at 20:10h, 12 DecemberOh that’s great thinking Lik. How are you thinking about doing that? Will you do one event during the day and one at night?
I’m sure there’s room for both at the same time. All we care about at LYL is that you get together to talk about something that matters. I’d rather join forces than be separate.
And keep in mind Jan 7th is day one of a very long series of monthly interactions (or more often!). This is just the kickoff :). If you must do them on the 6th or 5th or whatever, that’s find too. Obviously more fun to do all on the same day but all that matters is that you get together and help each other make an impact! We welcome everyone…

I’m looking forward to this ride and would love other organisers to look me up on Twitter, share ideas and progress etc?
