17 Feb The 2015 Start-A-Blog Dream Job Challenge Starts Now! Win a $500 Ticket to World Domination Summit 2015
“The more I write, the more I discover.”
The writer’s unexpected path…
This picture was taken a few days ago at a small farmhouse in El Calafate. The night before, a man was shearing sheep on that lawn.
Two days later we’ve found ourselves in the tiny port town of Ushuaia in Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina – the furthest southern city of South America. Today we’re off to explore a small island inhabited with thousands of penguins.
And tomorrow we might try our luck at one of the tour offices that says “Antarctica LAST MINUTE” on a little white paper taped to the window.
And that’s the point.
It’s impossible to know where one decision will lead, so all that seems to matter is that you keep making them.
And that is why I host the Start-A-Blog Challenge twice a year and give away one or two $500 tickets to World Domination Summit in Portland, Oregon.
And with that, our 2015 Blog Challenge starts right now!
Or read on for why I believe this matters so damn much to all of us…
You see, none of this would have never existed if I had not decided to start a blog 8 years ago.
Chelsea and I would not be on this yearlong adventure around the world. And if we were, we certainly wouldn’t be getting the local experience from so many of you LYLers in nearly every city we visit (which makes this trip SO much more fun!). Next event is in Santiago in a few days.
And if Chelsea hadn’t started her blog a few years ago, I’m sure we wouldn’t be hosting The Global Dinner Party in all our cities – and I know we’d be a lot less healthy. 🙂
I can link my decision to start writing and sharing my ideas with the world to nearly every peak experience I’ve had in the past few years…
It landed me an invitation to speak at TEDx, which ended up getting millions of views and turned LYL into the Revolution it is today. Actually, writing is what allowed me to develop a topic and expertise that was worth sharing and speaking about in the first place (which I think is the biggest part of the TED Talk battle!).
It allowed me to identify my strengths, talents, passions and values and intertwine them in a way that not only managed to help people in a really big way, but also allowed me to build a thriving business around it in the process.
It’s led to 300+ monthly LYL Local meetup groups in over 70 cities around the world.
It’s brought my passions and Chelsea’s together into a project I could have never scripted.
And it’s created experiences that I couldn’t have dreamed up even a few years ago.
Like sitting here in this big comfy chair in a tiny B&B, drinking my maté as the sun rises over the snowcapped mountains of Ushuaia.
I cannot believe this is real life.
But it is.
And I firmly believe this is happening because I built a relentless daily habit of writing, experimentation and sharing my ideas with the world.
And as it turns out, a blog is the most efficient, inexpensive, scalable and fun way I know of doing that today. I also think it’s the most powerful passion-discovery and career-transition tool on the planet.
The scary thing is that I had put it off for years – and I know so many people who continue to put it off.
Well, the procrastination ends right NOW. I want to remove every barrier and excuse to get you creating your blog, learning to write and sharing your work.
Last year over 2,000 LYLers started a blog and became writers during our challenge, and many of them have told me directly that it was the most game-changing thing they did the whole year.
So that’s why we put so much energy into the blog challenge.
And that’s why I’ve created a Free 7-Day Dream Job Writing Habits Course to go with the challenge.
Here’s what you need to know and how to participate:
- The goal of the Start-A-Blog Challenge is to get you to finally start writing and publishing your ideas – simple as that.
- I’ve created a free 7-day email course to help you build a blog and successful writing habit in 10-20 minutes a day, and I’ll share my favorite tools and process. (I’ll also share how I built the LYL blog into a multiple 6-figure business.)
- I created a video tutorial on How to Start a Blog Under 10 Minutes with Zero Tech Experience.
- You’ll get an invitation to a free private LYL writer’s community for built-in accountability (with over 2,000 members).
- I’m giving away a $500 ticket to World Domination Summit 2015 in Portland, Oregon.
- Everyone is welcome & encouraged to participate – even if you’ve joined the challenge in the past, please join us!
- You must click here to add your email to participate.
IMPORTANT: In order to participate in the challenge, be eligible for the $500 ticket to WDS 2015 and access the free 7-day mini email series, writing course and all of the above, you must click this link.
The link above will give you all the details and take you straight to the first video tutorial on how to start your blog in under 10 minutes.
It’s impossible to know where a thought will lead.
Ideas are funny like that.
And it’s even harder to imagine the opportunities that can come as a result.
While this challenge is about developing the simple habit of cultivating and sharing ideas, I could have never imaged where it would lead so many of you.
Past challenge participants have quit jobs, found dream jobs, been invited to speak at TEDx, become recognized (and highly paid) experts and have built careers around the passions and ideas they’ve shared.
Last year’s winner used her blog to share her experience with beating alcoholism through the adoption of a raw food diet. She’s now helping people all over the world beat the addiction through the system she’s developed and shared on her site!
In her own words…
“The most powerful result that I have experienced is that I got my courage back. As I sat down and spoke my truth on paper for the first time, I realized that I have something powerful and magical to share with the world that people need to know. With every article, I kept feeling less and less fear to speak my voice from what I know it’s true.”
It’s not cliché anymore…
The possibilities literally are endless.
But without room for the ideas to grow, they’ll eventually die. And probably a lot sooner than you think.
So that is why I write.
And that is why I’m inviting you to join us.
So… what gift, experience or talent are you holding back from the world?
Let’s find out.
I doubt you’ll ever look back.
Now it’s time for me and Chelsea to hopefully go play with some penguins and see about catching a ride to Antarctica…
P.S. By the way, to participate in the challenge, you must join by Sunday, March 1, 2015.
And yes, you are very welcome (and encouraged) to participate even if you’ve done one of our challenges in the past. And I hope you will!
