26 Jul ReadingForYourSuccess is now Live Your Legend – Welcome!
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” – Harold Whitman
Welcome to the official launch of Live Your Legend!
This is something I’ve been excited about for months and can’t wait to share it with you.
**Important note: If you are reading this from your email or RSS reader, please click through to the new site and read it there so you can see the new look!
ReadingForYourSuccess is now officially LiveYourLegend.net
Don’t worry, for those of you who have been long-time readers of Reading For Your Success (the site that Live Your Legend replaced), the content and focus of my work and writing won’t change – it was just time to have a business, name and brand that firmly back my why. One that screams daily adventure, constant experimentation and learning about yourself to find your purpose and live it.
For all current subscribers, the change is seamless (and actually already happened) – you are still a part of the community and will continue to get weekly updates and all the other great stuff. Everything will now just be redirected to Live Your Legend.
You see, the ReadingForYourSuccess name was appropriate years back when I launched it as a site for personal development book summaries, but in the past couple years it’s taken on a new, more refined mission.
Over the years I began writing more articles on living a life on purpose and finding work that mattered. Then something awesome happened. My work really started to help people. And the site began to grow, a lot. I started coaching some folks on the same topic and realized this was a major passion of mine. In realizing this, I also realized a new name would be appropriate.
Live Your Legend is my answer. I hope you enjoy our new home.
By the way, Corbett Barr of ThinkTraffic is the mastermind behind the design and layout of this creation. He does UNREAL work!
Check out the Welcome Video:
Here’s a short 2 minute welcome video to tell you all about what the new site has to offer. If you can’t see the video, click here.
The Purpose of Live Your Legend is Simple.
I have a fundamental belief that if we can get those around us doing work they love, we can literally change the world.
Imagine for a moment a world where everyone did work that lit them on fire. What would that look like? How differently would you treat your server at lunch or your wife or children? How much harder would you pursue the things in front of you? How much more innovation would there be? How would those around you start to treat others as a result of how you treated them?
One ripple creates another. When enough ripples intersect, you have a revolution.
I believe deep in my soul that if everyone lived and worked their passion and woke up excited, the world would be a fundamentally different place.
That is what keeps me up late at night and waking much before my wife would prefer.
I want everyone here to Live Their Legend – to find the work they love doing and offer it to the world.
Don’t be mistaken, it often takes massive effort to make this transition. You’re going to ask yourself some tough questions with even more challenging answers. But is there anything more worth getting right? This is your guide to breaking free.
Here you’ll find all kinds of practical tools, actions and experiments for understanding yourself, finding your purpose and living it.
You’ll also hear stories of all sorts of people doing what they love and living unique lives (I call them Living Legends), because the more we can see people doing epic things, the more doable they become for us. This life is more possible that you think. We just have to condition it.
If you’re reading this, one or more of the below likely resonates:
You know you could be doing better work, you’re just not sure where to start.
You don’t like people telling you life has to be lived a certain way.
You want want to do something epic.
You need help getting there.
If so, then you’ll no doubt be at home here. We are meant to do work we love. The world needs it. There are other people who see the world in a similar way. It turns out there are a lot of us…
This is the beginning.
For me this will mark the new beginning of my quest to help the world understand their passions and use them to do work they love. It’s one that never ends and I intend to be on it for the full ride.
We are not meant to do things the way they’ve always been done. We are meant to find and follow our own paths. This leads to greatness.
Our days are meant to be enjoyed – that is success. We deserve to spend our time on things that actually matter to us. I assure you that if we accomplish this, they will matter a hell of a lot more to the world than whatever we were working on before.
We deserve to live our own legends. It’s possible as long as we’re willing to work for it.
I’m here to help.
You are all here because you share my belief and wanted to be a part of the tribe. I’m grateful so many of you have joined the action over the years. There are now over 4,000 of us on the same mission! New believers join everyday. And the best part is we’re just getting started.
If you know someone who should be a part of the tribe but isn’t, please send them a link to this article. If you haven’t joined yet, I hope you will (you can join for free here).
Please take a few minutes and explore Live Your Legend and be sure to let me know what you think of our new home!
Welcome to the adventure – There are big things to come!
This is me living my legend, encouraging you to live yours…
– Scott Dinsmore
p.s. Be on the lookout for a massive launch article coming in the next couple days. It’s going to be a game-changer with all kinds of rockstar contributors!

Posted at 21:08h, 26 JulyVery cool of you to see it that way Amy! The goal is get all of our Legends to come out. That’s exactly why we created all this. Glad I could help at least slightly nudge you along. Believe me, it’s a fun road ahead…

Posted at 18:50h, 26 JulyLet me jump on the bandwagon and say I’m noticing a lot of nice touches to the new website and brand. The color change from white to gray when you tab through to another field for leaving a comment is flashy. It’s a good looking theme but leans towards the simplicity end of the spectrum for me which I dig.
I bet you put a lot of thought and effort into the header and it shows. Everything I need is “above the fold” and scrolling isn’t necessary to get the core of the content. And speaking of content, if the goals and direction of Live Your Legend are the same as Reading for Your Success I’ll be happily linking to your (past) and future awesomeness. Congrats Scott!
Scott
Posted at 21:11h, 26 JulyMusic to my ears Joel! You wil no doubt see more of the past content and plenty more fun topics to come. As for the design and layout genius, I cannot take more than an ounce of the credit. Corbett Barr of http://www.thinktraffic.net was the mastermind behind all of it. He’s awesome at this stuff. I’m so proud of what he put together. He no doubt went above and beyond.
Thanks for sharing in the fun Joel!

Posted at 21:17h, 26 JulyHey Scott,
I have been following your site ever since you guest posted on Zen Habits and your blog soon became a favourite. I always thought that the name didn’t fully represent how awesome your site is and I am really excited about the name change. I think this new brand will bring you to a whole new level of success and I wish you all the best!
Cheers,
Zuwena

Posted at 21:27h, 26 JulyScott….As someone who has been inspired by your work and musings for close to two years now, I’ve been wondering when you were going to “rebrand”, simply because your site represents so much more than ‘reading for your success’.
Congrats…I love the new digs and am genuinely excited for the world to experience more of you.
I’ve only been TRULY walking the talk for the past six months of my life and I need you to know, that your words have been a powerful source of ongoing motivation, inspiraton and encouragement to me.
Your work has for sure sparked a fire in my life and that’s coming from someone who is now coaching young mums to follow their own dreams while raising families!
Mad props and gratitude to you,
~Kirri

Scott Dinsmore, I Will Miss You Forever | Corbett Barr
Posted at 18:33h, 14 September[…] That first conversation we had lasted hours, and quickly turned into a working relationship. Scott had been blogging at a site called Reading For Your Success. I knew his energy and that site were mismatched, and I suggested he should re-brand the site to serve a bigger purpose. Scott hired me to help with the re-branding, design and launch of his site, which became Live Your Legend in July 2011. […]
